Andrew Boyton: Counselling and psychotherapy for men homepage

Starting Guide

 starting therapy

Step 1 - Make an appointment

All appointments for counselling with me are arranged via the phone. Your first step is to make an appointment for this call, you can call me directly, or you can request a call back at a time to suit you using the contact page. Your call will be treated in confidence.

Step 2 - Assess Your Requirements

The telephone call will allow me to assess your initial requirements for counselling and allows you to ask questions. This call will last between 5 - 10 minutes.

Step 3 - Attending Initial Appointment

Your first session will last an hour and a half. For the first hour you will be able to 'have your say' about your situation and what you would like from therapy. Feedback and explanation of what is happening can be provided, at the end of the hour you can decide whether therapy is for you.

If you decide to proceed then I will take some basic details such as name, address, GP etc, this will take 30 minutes. All information shared will be treated with respect and kept in confidence.

Step 4 - Start Counseling

You can make a regular appointments, usually this is the same time and day of the week as agreed.
